Renowned
Islamic scholar, poet, philosopher and historian Allama Talib Johri passed away
at the age of 80 on Sunday night in Karachi, his son Riaz Jauhari confirmed in
the wee hours of Monday.
He
was unwell and was admitted to a private hospital in Karachi and was on a
ventilator.
He
was suffering from a heart condition. Death is not caused by coronavirus.
He
was previously admitted to hospital several times owing to the deteriorating
health conditions.
Riaz
Jauhari confirmed his death and said that the body had been shifted to Ancholi
Imambargah. Allama Jauhari was born in Patna, British India, on August 27,
1938.
His
father Maulana Muhammad Mustafa Jauhar was a prominent scholar and an Urdu poet
known for his exceptional poetry.
AllamaTalib Johri was an author of a few of the most compact and exceptional Urdu
books on Tafseer, philosophy and History (Maqtal) and Hadith.
His
book "Alamaat e Zahoor e Mehdi (AS)" is considered as one of the most
comprehensive books compiled and written on the topic of Imam Mehdi (AS), the
awaited saviour.
His
book "Hadees–e–Karbala" is one of the few “Maqtal” written in Urdu
and has been considered as one of the most well-compiled sources to the
traditions related to the event of Karbala.
Allama
Jauhari studied Islamic theology in Najaf, Iraq, under Ayatullah al Uzma Sayyid
Abu al-Qasim al-Khoei and late Ayatullah Sayyid Baqir Al Sadr. He was also
awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan.
